Watching how Victoria Mboko sliced through the National Bank Open competition and took down four Grand Slam winners to her first WTA title, it's hard to imagine the 18-year-old Canadian was once nervous before tennis matches and easily flustered on the court.

Victoria Mboko had begun Thursday with a swollen, stiff wrist that concerned her enough to visit the hospital for an MRI. The 18-year-old ended that same day hoisting the National Bank Open trophy and savouring the best night of her young tennis life.

The National Bank Open concluded last night with Mboko facing off against four-time grand slam winner Naomi Osaka. Mboko’s next match will be at the U.S. open.
