The US President made the pledge after a 'very disappointing' phone call with Vladimir Putin on Thursday night, with Russia launching the barrage hours after.

Russia launched a record number of drones at Ukraine overnight into Friday, striking multiple buildings and residential areas, hours after US President Donald Trump said he had made “no progress” towards a ceasefire deal in a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Putin also emphasized the need to resolve the situation around Iran and in the broader Middle East “exclusively by political and diplomatic means,” the Kremlin aid said.
