Miyu Yamashita of Japan captured her first major title when she withstood a charge by Charley Hull by not making a bogey until the outcome of the Women’s British Open was no longer in doubt

The matter of Yamashita's first win outside of her native Japan, and indeed her maiden major victory, seemed like a case of when rather than if, and already she's delivered on both counts, delivering a clinic in windswept conditions at Royal Porthcawl to claim the AIG Women's Open by 2-strokes.

Miyu Yamashita held off a strong challenge from Charley Hull to win the AIG Women's Open by two shots on Sunday. Yamashita, who began the day leading by one from Kim A-lim, carded a steady final-round 70 in blustery conditions to land her first major title with an 11-under-par total of 277 at Royal Porthcawl.
