After Brock Lesnar lost against Cody Rhodes in 2023, he took a hiatus from WWE before returning to SummerSlam recently. During this hiatus, his name was dragged into Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon. According to reports, despite the hiatus and lawsuit, Lesnar remained one of the highest-paid wrestlers with the company.

Lesnar was added to Grant's case, which she amended in January of this year, stating McMahon attempted to sexually traffic her to the WWE Superstar as part of contract negotiations to make him re-sign with the company. Before the amended suit, Lesnar was referred to as a "former UFC heavyweight champion" and "WWE Superstar."
