The Toronto Blue Jays outfielder was named the American League Player of the Week after helping his team to an eight-game win streak and a homestand sweep over the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels, the league announced Monday.

Toronto outfielder/designated hitter George Springer has been named the American League player of the week after his dominant stretch at the plate helped the Blue Jays complete a perfect seven-game homestand.

The Toronto Blue Jays are in the midst of an eight-game winning streak. After taking the final game of the series against the Boston Red Sox, the Blue Jays were able to sweep the New York Yankees in a four-game series.
