Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu tells The Canadian Press that the federal government is launching a probe into allegations of unpaid work in the airline sector as a work stoppage at Air Canada stretches on.

The union for 10,000 striking Air Canada flight attendants said on Monday they won’t return to work even though the strike, now in its third day, has been declared illegal. The strike at Canada’s largest airline is affecting about 130,000 travelers a day at the peak of the summer travel season.

Air Canada customers are trying to remain hopeful that a possible strike involving flight attendants won't disrupt their upcoming travel plans, but they're also steeling themselves for the possibility that could happen.
