US President Donald Trump’s promised 50% copper tariffs are set to include all refined metal, indicating the president’s far-reaching efforts to bolster American production of one of the world’s most ubiquitous materials.

Trump announced on Wednesday a 50 per cent tariff on imports of the metal used in construction, electronics, and nearly every part of the economy. It would be the first time Washington has imposed a copper tariff if enacted by Trump’s August 1 start date.
