The Miami Dolphins traded tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Dolphins received safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a late-round draft pick in return. Smith had a career-best season in 2024, leading the Dolphins in receiving yards and touchdowns.

Dolphins All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey headlined the deal, but another one of his teammates – tight end Jonnu Smith – was also involved. Agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter that Smith will sign a one-year contract extension worth $12 million with the Steelers.

Because in another trade stacked on top of that one, the Steelers acquired 2024 Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith. For the Dolphins, they avoid paying (or extending) Smith. From a football fit, it's an intriguing reunion for Smith and his former Falcons coach, Arthur Smith, who now coordinates the Steelers offense.
