U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday directed federal immigration officials to prioritize deportations from Democratic-run cities after large protests have erupted in Los Angeles and other major cities against the Trump administration's immigration policies.

President Donald Trump called for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to expand deportation efforts in Democratic cities and “do all in their power” to achieve mass deportations in a social media post Sunday.

The mayor adds that she is prepared to reissue a curfew if needed, but that the last seven days have protected local businesses and homes.

After a week and half of protests, the curfew in downtown LA has been lifted. Meanwhile, the Dept. of Defense plans to deploy an additional 2,000 guard troops.
