The Erie SeaWolves are receiving a new name -- at least for certain games later this season. The team is being rebranded as the Moon Mammoths after winning a contest held by comedian John Oliver.

The Tigers' Double-A team, the Erie SeaWolves, won John Oliver's competition to rebrand and now have a new alt identity as the Erie Moon Mammoths.

The Erie SeaWolves have a new alternate identity, thanks to the help of HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. After extensive research, say hello to the Erie Moon Mammoths — a tribute to a local fossil excavation that occurred in 1991.
