The B.C. Wildfire Service says the Wesley Ridge fire is now a wildfire of note that is highly visible and impacting residents in the area. It's burning on the north side of Cameron Lake, northwest of Nanaimo. As Pinki Wong reports, as hundreds are forced to flee, nearby communities are chipping in to help.

The property is among nearly 400 under evacuation order due to a nearby wildfire burning on the north shore of the lake. Instead of making their annual summer visit, Morton and her brother Kenneth are watching from their homes in Bella Coola and worrying whether the cabin will be saved.

The B.C. Wildfire Service says 'dry and crunchy' drought conditions mean a significant amount of rain is needed to help firefighting efforts over the coming days, as hundreds of people remain under evacuation order or alert.
