An amber warning covers most of Scotland and there is a yellow warning in parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Authorities in Scotland canceled trains, closed parks and warned people to tie down backyard trampolines as an unusually strong summer storm toppled trees, felled power lines and disrupted travel across northern Britain.

Hundreds of trains, dozens of ferries and more than 150 flights cancelled – with two making 900-mile ‘flights to nowhere’
