Right-click on the Taskbar icon and further click on ‘Pin to Taskbar’ That’s all you have to do to permanently base your File Explorer icon on the Windows 11 Taskbar.

Next, choose “Dark” from the dropdown menu next to “Choose Your Default App Mode” to apply dark mode to File Explorer while keeping the taskbar and other elements in light mode.

All of the usual File Explorer settings are still here in Windows 10: Options to show or conceal hidden files, keep new folders in the same window, set the default look for opened folders, and so on.

I have named it Launcher. Put all your shortcuts in this folder. You may include programs, files and folders too. Now right-click on the taskbar and choose the Toolbar > New toolbar option.

You can pin applications and files to your Windows taskbar to allow you to access them quickly and easily.

You should see File Explorer in the list of search results. Right-click it, then choose Pin to taskbar. Presto! When you return to the Desktop, you'll see your beloved File Explorer icon.
