Walmart is recalling 850,000 water bottles after two people suffered permanent vision loss trying to open them. Customers reported being hit in the face with the lid when opening the Ozark Trail brand stainless steel bottles.

They have been sold at Walmart since 2017, and retail for $15. The caps of the impacted water bottles have forcefully ejected from the bottles unexpectedly. It's more likely for this to happen when the bottles are filled with carbonated beverages or perishable liquids like juice and milk, and have been left over time.

Walmart has issued a recall for a popular water bottle due to safety concerns. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a notice on July 10, reporting that the recall affected approximately 850,000 water bottles sold in Walmart stores and online across the United States since 2017.
