Toronto is among the most polluted cities in the world on Monday morning as the city remains under a special air quality statement for its third consecutive day.

The smoke blowing in from forest fires could persist into Tuesday before finally relenting, Environment Canada said in its special air quality statement, adding air quality and visibility can change quickly and vary greatly across short distances.

Burlington has the worst air quality in the country on Monday compared with other Canadian cities according to the World Air Quality Index.
