Spike’s odyssey sets in motion a story that will span two other films. On Jan. 16, 2026, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, a sequel helmed by Nia DaCosta ( The Marvels) that was shot back-to-back with its predecessor, will hit theatres.

Victor Halperin's White Zombie (1932) marked the inception of the zombie film, while George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead (1968) established the framework for the modern genre. The release of 28 Days Later in 2002 reinvigorated interest in zombies.
