Authorities have started handing over remains of the victims of one of India's worst aviation disasters, days after the Air India flight crashed and killed at least 270 people, officials said Sunday.

A Regina father is believed to have been killed on an Air India flight that crashed shortly after takeoff last week. Piyushkumar Patel was on board the London-bound flight that crashed in northwestern India last week, killing at least 270 people.

The black boxes will provide cockpit conversations and data related to the plane's engine and control settings to investigators and help them in determining the cause of the crash.
