The new Taskbar has more intuitive app icons and has made it easier to pin apps onto it. The process for pinning File Explorer is the same as it is for any other app on Windows 11.

You should see File Explorer in the list of search results. Right-click it, then choose Pin to taskbar. Presto! When you return to the Desktop, you'll see your beloved File Explorer icon.
