Austria’s ÖBB and WestBahn rail services connect the cities to major lake towns and mountain valleys. The fastest trains from Vienna to Innsbruck take as a little as 4 to 5 hours one way.

If you're coming from larger Austrian cities, you can also take the OBB railway, which offers frequent, scenic rides to Klagenfurt, a 3.5 hour journey from Vienna, or just under 3 hours from Salzburg.
