A hacker took over the official X account of beloved Sesame Street character Elmo over the weekend, posting antisemitic and violent language.

A spokesperson for “Sesame Street” confirmed to Variety that Elmo’s official X account was “compromised by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts.” The tweets,

The owner of “Sesame Street” said it was working to restore control of Elmo’s social media account after the cyberattack on the fuzzy red monster, a beloved character on the children’s show.
