WASHINGTON (AP) — Residents in one Washington, D.C., neighborhood lined up Wednesday to protest the increased police presence after the White House said the number of National Guard troops in the nation’s capital would ramp up and federal officers would be the streets around the clock.

Authorities also said there will be a "significantly higher national guard presence on the ground" starting Wednesday night.

The Trump administration said that small groups of federal officers were visible for the past couple of days, while asserting that this was about to change.
