The Israeli military said its troops had fired warning shots towards a crowd of thousands in northern Gaza on Sunday to remove what it said was 'an immediate threat'.

A UN official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Israeli forces opened fire toward crowds who tried to take food from the convoy.

Amid stalled peace talks, Israel issued evacuation orders in central Gaza, urging the people sheltering there to head further south. The move comes as the hunger crisis worsens in the region.
