Richard Jordan, the longest-serving and oldest person on Mississippi's death row, was executed on June 25 for the 1976 murder and kidnapping of Edwina Marter.

The longest-serving man on Mississippi’s death row was executed Wednesday, nearly five decades after he kidnapped and killed a bank loan officer’s wife in a violent ransom scheme.

The request comes shortly after Gov. Mike Braun suggested that state lawmakers take up debate on capital punishment.
